More about this Workshop

Those who have painted previously will benefit greatly from this weekend, as they will be taught specific techniques for painting portraits and faces.

Participants will also learn how to mix flesh coloured tones and many other general processes Kim uses in her painting.

If you like to paint quickly, I would suggest you bring acrylic paints, not oils, as these will take longer to dry on the piece you are working to complete by the end of the two days.

This will be a small group workshop.

‘Portraiture Painting’ Weekend

With Mudgee Artist, Kim Harding

Have you always wanted to explore portraiture but have never quite known how to start or maybe you have had a few attempts but never developed a reliable technique?

Maybe you are simply looking to refine your existing process?

Mudgee Artist Kim Harding will teach you how to capture a likeness and actually ‘see’ your subject, how to map the image onto your canvas, where to start and how to mix and apply flesh tones, all processes that will allow you to develop your base skills, your own style and ultimately paint better portraits.

Each attendee should bring a quality photo with well-defined light and shadow sides of the subject (person) they would like to paint over the course of the weekend. Attendees will begin with some sketches, building valuable drawings on paper and complete the process all the way through to a finished portrait using either acrylic or oil paints on canvas or board.

The weekend includes as much tea, coffee and cake as you’d like and a delicious lunch sourced from the MRR kitchen garden, washed down with a glass of champagne.

Airbnb and pub accommodation is available in Guyra town, which is only 15 mins drive.

This will be a popular one, as Kim is an exceptional artist and teacher, so get in early.
