Kim will curate a beautiful, carefully lit ‘Still Life’ set-up for everyone to paint, so you do not need to bring a picture to work from.
This is a relaxed, fully guided two-day workshop, perfect for beginners through to more experienced painters. You will be guided through the process step-by-step and take home a finished ‘Still Life’ painting.
Most importantly, you will walk away with a solid foundation of techniques, which will set you in good stead to continue your painting at home. The learnings will be great.
What you should Bring
You will be provided with a materials list once you have booked.
Please bring an apron & wear work-style clothes.
There will be a few easels available, but if you have your own please bring it with you.
The weekend includes as much tea, coffee and cake as you’d like and a delicious lunch sourced from the MRR kitchen garden, washed down with a glass of champagne.
Airbnb and pub accommodation is available in Guyra town, which is only 15 mins drive.
This will be a popular one, as Kim is an exceptional artist and teacher, so get in early.
Gluten Free Options are included in morning tea & lunch.

This relaxed, fully guided two-day workshop is perfect for beginners and more experienced painters alike. You will paint directly from life referencing a beautiful, well-lit ‘Still Life’ arrangement that Kim will set up for the small group.

- The essentials in terms of materials, cut through the art shop upsell and simplify what you actually need.
- How to see your subject and decide on your composition based on simple techniques.
- A clear process to follow from composition through to final completion.
- A simple way to map composition and values onto your canvas.
- Effective colour mixing, simple colour theory & guidance on tips and tricks for colour use.
- Techniques for light, shadow, edges & how to make your painting interesting.
Kim will guide you step-by-step from initial sketches through to a completed painting. Everything is designed to be enjoyable, practical and achievable.
You will leave with a finished ‘Still Life’ painting, a solid foundation technique you can use as a base to refine and develop according to your own level, style and existing process, and plenty of new ideas and confidence!
