More about this Workshop

We’ll talk about the different types of Perennials, my favourites & why?

Favourite Grasses & their uses.

How to plant, repeat and create effective drifts.

Seasonal change: Spring growth, Summer fullness, Autumn colour and beautiful Winter decay.

We will wander my garden and discuss the Dry Stone Wall Perennial border.

I will demonstrate how to cut-back this border and the maintenance required.

This day is ideal for those beginning their garden journey, or those who have a moderate level of knowledge.

Whatever your stage, come with a willingness to learn and ask questions.

No question is too silly, it really is the only way to learn.

And I have towers of gardening books for you to enjoy. X

‘The Power of Perennials in Your Garden’

With Tina Skipper

Would you like to know more about Perennials and Grasses?

Did you know they go through a full life cycle in one year?

They are the latest trend in gardening and for very good reason.

Perennials and Grasses naturalise a garden and work hard for you in every season.

In country gardens, they tie your garden to its borrowed landscape. In town gardens, they bring a naturalistic feel to an often concrete, built environment.

In my garden, I have found them to have the greatest effect in the fastest time, and whatever your soil type or climate, there is a Perennial for you.

Not only are they practical, with a proven ability to withstand dry times, they are a powerful and playful mix in the garden. I adore them.

Their form and foliage bring softness and movement to the garden, a great contrast to formal hedges, trees and shrubs. They lift a garden to new heights, literally and metaphorically. Some Miscanthus can reach up to 4 metres in height and with their feathery plumes, the afternoon sun radiates from them – an absolutely magical sight.

So, if this is your digs, join me for a day of delightful discussion (see More about….)

Written materials, morning tea & a nourishing lunch, sourced from the MRR Kitchen Garden will be served.
